I got an EZ-Digital FC7150U counter on eBay from athomemarket and used my Trimble Thunderbolt as a 10MHz reference. To the C (prescaler) input, I attached a high-UHF rubber duck antenna that Norm K6NPB gave me.
I keyed up my Alinco DJ-G7 on
1295.50 MHz and let it gate for 10 seconds, being quiet as I could
to avoid frequency modulation. The frequency it read over
the 10 second period was 1,294.49995
MHz, or
1,294,499,950
Hz with a precision
of +/-10Hz.
