I heard someone in QSO with Paul W0RW on 80m but Paul didn't hear me when I called back. I heard Paul on 7.040 briefly but there was a QRP Homebrewer Sprint on so I called W5TA on 7.040 and exchanged 559/CA/2W for his 559/TX/5W 0253Z, but it was rough.

WA7OSQ, first KX1 80m QSO
I finished my 80m board for the KX1 today. I did it over 3 or 4 days a bit at a time. The first signal I heard on 80m was noted KX1 owner Bill K6ACJ, but I don't think he was on his KX1. He signed before I had a chance to call him. WA7OSQ Art in Pasco, WA (about 630 miles) was my first QSO, on 3719 with my 400' low-loop, and Art gave me a 569 QSB to my ~1.5W out. The loop has a resonance around there, so it didn't really give the KXAT1 a workout at all, and the ATU reported L=C=0. On the 40m CW band though, all I get is SSB tonight, hi hi... All in all, I'm impressed that such a thing was possible and pleased I got it. Time will tell if I can use the 80m with portable antennas, but it certainly works with a big resonant one.

KX1 80M
I made some progress on the KX1 80m board. I got the KX1 input changed from the capacitor divider to the link coupled input, the firmware upgraded, the main board installed and tested, and have started on the LPF board. Now there's 2 toroids wind, and then the board to install.

QRZ Google

I did a QRZ.com Premium Services / Google Maps integration a while back. If you have a premium services account and a web server, you can set it up. Most of the work is done in XSLT. There is a small shell script that runs it as a CGI, but a JSP or ASP or ASP.NET or PHP program could run the XSLT as well.

Download qrz-google-1.0.tar.gz here.

UA0ZK
I tried to work some more Russian stations CW but worked UA0ZK Vasiliy in Elizovo, Kamchatka, QO93DC (RDA-KT-02) on 7.027.28. QSO End 0754Z. Vasiliy was using an FT-1000-MP at 60W with KPOT http://www.RadioKrot.nm.ru and a Delta 80-40m antenna. Vasiliy said he was new to PSK, and chatted a bit more than many DX stations do, which I enjoyed.

I replaced the finals on my FT-817, which had blown a couple of months ago when I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary (using the rig with a tuner to a hamstick, in band). With the move, it's taken me a while to get to it. I did the phase reversal mod while I was at it, even though it has the new final board. I get 4.5-5.5W out according to my Elecraft DL1 on all bands.

JH1OCC
I set up my K2 and Pac-12 at Amtech day with the 17m coil and heard a Japanese roundtable on 18.150. Then JH1OCC Yuu near Tokyo broke and called CQ and I answered. He returned my first call and gave me a 5x4 for my 15W solar powered rig. Yuu was running 200W and a 4el beam and I gave him 5x7.

A bunch of people came by and looked at the rig, and also someone showing off an OQO PC.

Today it hailed and the sky turned dark green; sure enough, ten minutes later there was a tornado warning for the East Bay. The cloud that spawned it had just passed over us. I think part of my loop came down in the big windstorm. Around 0620Z I heard FO/N6JA calling CQ on 40m. Brad gave me a 339 on 7004.39 with my 15W K2.
