Beacons

I heard ZS4DN, and three beacon dashes, with my SteppIR pointed at 250 degrees on 21150

I also get ZL6B and earlier heard CS3B.

On 18110 I picked up 4U1UN, three dashes, at 255-180=75 degrees. ZS4DN as well as KH6WO

I used IBP for Linux.

HFPack
I heard WB6W Glenn in Minden NV on 3740.5 and worked him, K6ACJ Bill, and we heard Ken WB6MLC but he always seemed to be a way from the key when it was his turn. Glenn went on a trip through Nevada looking at sage brush, hi hi, and Bill is considering making some small CW paddles out of parts he has at home.

I heard a ship near Easter Island but he faded out. I listened and on 10125.08 I heard JM1HUX calling CQ. I gave him an honest 449 and got a 559 with 10W to the SteppIR pointed 240/60. JCC-1343?

I heard XF4DL calling CQ on RTTY on 10141.50 with no takers. They called me back after the 599 and said they would go to PSK31 because of conditions, IOTA-NA-030, and then would be back on AO-51 in 45 minutes. They had the first 11 QSO via Satellite from this station.

last night I replaced the TUF-1 mixer in my K2 with a new one I'd ordered from Elecraft. I think I heat-damaged the TUF-1, and they sent a TOP-1. They're the same as far as Elecraft is concerned. It was hard to get the old one out, and I'd been putting it off for a while. The bands sounded much quieter; that was last night, and it's true tonight, too. I'm not certain but I think it's an improvement. I called CQ HFPAC on 3741.50 and heard Orrin WN1Z on 3740.50, and he was quickly answered by Bill K6ACJ. We had a round-table, but Orrin was weak or faded out for most of it, except the beginning and the end, where he was 559. Bill was 599, S9+40 the whole time. Definitely easier sounding on 80m tonight. I got a 559 from Bill, 30W to the loop.

KW6J
I listened on 80m but heard nobody so I went up to 60m and heard KW6J/7 Brian near Phoenix, AZ on 5371.50. Brian gave me a 5x7 QSB and he was 5x9 QSB. He was trying to raise a 4-land station, but got no answer and asked for a signal check.

I just worked JQ2IQW Ross who gave me a 569 on 14.029. I gave Ross at 579. I just re-wired my SteppIR so the elements were wired up right; I'd done it wrong.

JM7OLW
K7LXC installed my Force-12 LPT1242 and SteppIR 3el with 30-40m option. It went up today, and I cranked it up to about 35ft. The first contact JM7OLW Suke, who gave me a 539 and then a 559. I had the antenna pointed at ZL8 so it was off a little bit. I was running 10W. Suke was running 1KW. 2351Z.

I listened a bit on 30m from the skating rink (parked) and heard a few QSOs. I tail-called W7BXH who maintains an NDB and other interesting things to talk about but he gave me a RST:579 and said he had to go to a net.

ZL6FF
I just talked to ZL6FF again, this time op is Bill, in New Zealand. Bert gave me 559, Club 9600. I sent RST 579 and my info. I was running 15W to the 550' loop and Bill got me on the first call, 14.059. I worked ZL6FF for my first K2 contact in October 2004, so it was a fun repeat, and a good test as I spent the day pulling coax for my new antenna and am glad I hadn't disturbed anything.
