VO1DD de WA5ZNU/VE2
I took the lift to near the summit of Mont Tremblant, Quebec, and set up my K2 and Buddipole (dipole). 17m wasn't too active so I switched to 20m (vertical) and heard VO1DD Doug from a small coastal village near St John's, Newfoundland. Doug gave me 559 QSM and had to send QRL a few times as well due to my 15W. I gave Doug 579 for his 75W to a dipole and FT-1000. Doug retired from Ontario. 1600J. 14.054.

More Field Day 2007

On 40m SSB, using Buddipole as vertical with a 33' wire. One OM
complained everyone calling him was using a "screwdriver and a watt."
Blame the FD rules, hihi. Switched to CW where it was easier, got them
all 1st time.

VK4GP

I had a bit of time tonight and 20M was still open so I answered VK4GP Donald on Bribie Island near Brisbane, Australia. Donald reported 589 with consistent good print to my 7W from the K2 to the SteppIR now correctly pointed at Australia (245-35=210). Donald was running 40W to a Force-12 beam from an FT-847.

Donald reported that he recently traveled to China, and has done ham house swaps in British Columbia, New Zealand, and the UK. He was just putting the finishing touches on his PSK Meter, but didn't have any need for the Linux software for it, as he's still experimenting with Linux and using Windows mostly on his 5 computers. Donald was aboard ship in Tokyo Harbor in 1945 for the signing of the peace treaty, and at 84 is retired from a career in government service and RF.

True North

I got the sunrise and sunset in local time, 24hr format, from sunrisesunset.com and calculated (sunrise+sunset)/2. That came out to 13:09. So at lunch I aligned my SteppIR boom shadow with the mast's shadow. It was off by about 37 degrees +/- 2 from what I had thought, which is shown here by the top border
line running what I thought was west-to-east. A look at Google maps showed me a 39 degree difference.

5A Solar Panel

I got this on closeout from AffordableSolar.
It produces 3.75A here at 6:30PM local time, and should have a peak of
5A. I used it with the controller I got with my 1A panel from Weird
Stuff Warehouse (handles 7A) and a 21AH AGM. It floated to 14.0v. (I
am not too sure about the last digit of this voltmeter.)

I worked R3AA Alex in Moscow on 14.070 with P 6W on PSK31 at 0540Z. Alex gave me 549 QSB and I gave him 579 QSB. SteppIR pointed 340 degrees but it seems to be about 40 degrees off, hi hi.

KH6/N0CO
I heard KH6/N0C0 Bill in Oahu call CQ on 10105.5 and gave him a 559 and got 579 for my 15W from the K2 to the SteppIR 30m pointed to 75 degrees. Bill moved to Hawaii from Minnesota about 10 years ago. We called it quits due to QSB.
